Man Dies After Jumping in Front of Vehicle in Stanton

A man identified as Metotisi Angelo Falelaulii Jr. has died after jumping in front of a moving vehicle early Sunday morning in the city of Stanton, authorities confirmed.
The incident occurred around 3:35 a.m. at the intersection of Beach Boulevard and Second Street. Deputies with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department responded to 911 calls reporting a pedestrian had been struck.
When they arrived, deputies found Falelaulii unresponsive in the roadway. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Witnesses told SoCal PD Media they saw Falelaulii step into traffic moments before he was struck, and were left stunned by what they witnessed. Several onlookers were overheard asking, “Why would he do that?".
The driver of the vehicle immediately stopped and cooperated with deputies. Traffic in the area was light at the time, and Beach Boulevard was temporarily closed in both directions while investigators processed the scene.
