Funeral Escort Motorcycle Bursts Into Flames on 261 Freeway

At approximately 10:52 AM today, a funeral procession motorcycle caught fire on the northbound 261 freeway, just before the Irvine Boulevard exit. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) and the Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) responded promptly to the incident.
Upon arrival, emergency services found the motorcycle fully engulfed in flames, with the fire spreading to the adjacent brush. Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze, preventing further damage and potential hazards to other motorists. The rider was assessed for injuries; however, no significant injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. Initial reports suggest that a mechanical issue may have led to the ignition, but authorities have not yet confirmed this. The incident resulted in temporary traffic disruptions in the area, with the Irvine BLVD exit closed for approximately 30 minutes to an hour during the emergency response.
